You can find recent RAJAR stats here. But here are some highlights from the end of last year:
TalkRadio, owned by News UK subsidiary Wireless, boosted its audience by 12% year-on-year.
Times Radio meanwhile grew its year-on-year audience by 12% and its quarter-on-quarter audience by 4% to reach 563,000 people in Q4 of 2022.
BBC Local Radio saw a significant drop in listener numbers – 14%.
LBC had a slight drop in listeners – but retains its position as Britain's most prominent commercial news talk station, with over 3.1 million weekly listeners. Nick Ferrari now reaches over 1.3 million weekly listeners across the UK.
Despite a minimal drop, LBC News is still doing very well – with 872K weekly listeners.
Radio 2 slightly dropped in listeners but still has far more weekly listeners than any other station – over 14m!
Among breakfast shows, which present listening data for the quarter ending 18 December 2022, Radio 4's flagship news and current affairs show, Today, reached 6.2 million people – a dip of 4% compared to the 6.5 million people a year earlier.
The longstanding shifts of people moving towards commercial radio and away from the BBC seem reasonably consistent.
